SPITTING UP, INFANT REFLUX AND GERD   Spitting up, also called gastroesophageal reflux, GER, reflux, is common in babies and is usually deemed normal. About 40% of young babies spit up sometimes, since their digestive systems are immature, making it easier for the stomach contents to flow back up into the esophagus.  The peak age for spitting up is 4 months.
